Our client, a data service provider having partnered with many of the Access Service Providers those offer’s fibre, wireless and fixed data services across their nation.

Reason for Engagement

The process for quoting on fibre and wireless data services required a feasibility study which has to be performed by each provider. It tends to be difficult in many situations to do this study and provide a good service to their respective customers. Its then the client had thought of developing a GIS based system that will automate the process and make the feasibility check that could be extended to a point where the system can identify the locations where Service Providers needs to expand their infrastructure.

 

CLIENT REQUIREMENTS


The web application needs to capture the customer address to determine if they fall into a coverage area to speed up the quoting process. Customer must be given an option to choose similar product/products if the specific product that was searched is not found. And in case if the customer is out of the coverage, a log needs to be created with provision for feedback and motivation for new infrastructure for that area.

They also needed an efficient system which could suggest the best product in a location and could generate a quote based on the user preference. Sales person needed to identify the best products and add-ons quickly and generate quote from the proposed system.

Approach

Client approached ECIT with their unique requirement, after the initial discussion and understanding the clients need, ECIT proposed that a PHP and YII frame work will be the best technology that is capable to develop such a web application.

We designed a cloud based system with many web services; we had to foresee the future of this app to be built in mobile as well.

ECIT created a functional document and project plan for the system. Created wire-frames as the initial step to give an idea on how the system will look like. We then started working on the approved project plan and functional specification from the client.

Strategy

As usual Agile Methodology was followed for the entire development stage. The client obligation was to develop a Keyhole Markup Language (KML) for each product and Service Provider’s geographical layer that shows their feasibility area in line strings and polygons. Then that was imported to our GIS application.

What We Did

We made a system for the Sales persons to log custom inquires on a real time basis. The system helps to add all Service providers and their products and addons. Admin and Sale person was given access to upload KML files that represents the feasibility areas for each product. The systems then use to analyse for feasibility by cross checking the customer location and KML data. Quotation were then generated by the sales person based on customer's preferred Products and Addons on the fly.
